I did it!  I completed my card for week 52 last night!!!

Week 52 of 52 Questions asks: What magical thing happened to you this year?

For me, it was learning an easier way to make faces – faces I can be proud of!! THANKS to Willowing’s Art Heart & Healing class!

For this card, I sanded and then glued down an old book page.  Once dry, I painted cream craft paint on – rubbed lighter in some areas.  I have been wanting to try Claudine Hellmuth‘s  Caulking transfer method for awhile….finally found my bottle of Elmer’s clear Squeeze ‘n Caulk (pg. 37 -39 in her Collage Discovery Workshop book).

I printed off a picture of my journal page that I did my first face – trimmed around the head.  I squeezed alot of caulk onto the card, spread it smooth with a foam brush and then laid down the printed face down – printed side down.  I let it dry naturally overnight (Saturday night).  Last night, I splash alot of water onto it, rubbed off the paper.  She suggests sanding the edge – I tried that, but for me it just created a messy edge, which is why the tag is at the bottom.  I LOVED how the transfer turned out….will be doing more of those since my bottle of caulk is now with my glazing liquid, gel mediums, etc.

Below are pictures of my overflowing box, it will be held shut with a nice purple thick elastic.  I am looking forward to a whole new set of prompts for 2011.  Are you going to join me in this journaling project?  If so, you can download the pdf of all the prompts on THIS blog post.

As our kids were growing up, we tried to have family time Christmas Eve, not always possible if visiting relatives.  Our daughter reminded us yesterday – she misses our puzzle, drinks and music times on Christmas Eve – she’s in Ontario.  These times were always FUN!  We would all start out working on the puzzle talking about a full range of things, first it would be Carrie, leaving the table and then, me and then Michael….hubby was always last at the puzzle. Sometimes that puzzle would be finished, but most times we would pick at it on Christmas Day and finish it while waiting for the turkey to be done.

As kids, they were allowed to wake at anytime but they could only open their stockings…..until the rest of us woke up.  Sometimes, we were all awake at 4 am sometimes not until 6 or 7 am.

This one eyed ornament is 37 years old….its our daughter’s first ornament.

On this day – hope you all enjoy time with family and remember all those GREAT memories!!!

Turkey is cooking, potatoes are peeled & waiting to be turned on, turnip puff was cooked yesterday & just needs to be re-heated….Mom sent over desserts already.
