What a simple SMILE will do for your day!!!
Yesterday, DH and I went on a road trip to Regina so he could turn in his passport application. We went with a plan….
DH has COPD so his breathing and walking are unable to cooperate very much. We planned to drive to the building, he would get out and I would go find a parking spot. So, I drove around the block, found lots and paid $1 for 1/2 hour hoping that that would be all we would need. I walk across the parking lot and go up to the 5th floor – he was already at the counter about to pay…..the person handing out the numbers was the FIRST SMILE of the day. He knew immediately who I was there for and smiled. As DH was leaving the counter, he asked the guy about his tattoo – it was a large one and the guy smiled because DH has mentioned it.
We leave the building and DH reminds me we could have parked in the handicapped spot right outside the back door – he has a permit to do that. I never remember that as I am OK with walking. Oh well, it all worked out.
We went to London Drugs as I knew they would have a new Apple mouse as ours died on the weekend. The clerk in the computer section was so NICE and in a good mood, it was a shame we only needed the mouse.
Our next stop was Walmart. The cart person saw DH coming and met him, we first went to the magazine aisle as the aisle in London Drugs didn’t have magazines I was looking for…..same with Walmart. Next was the grocery aisle and people were asking us where things were – LOL! That store is different from our regular one so we just smiled and said we were from out of town. I found an AWESOME looking set of Bic markers (36) of them laying in an aisle that was not where they should have been – a shelf stocker happened to be going by and I asked if he was able to check the price for me, he smiled and said sure. He checked it for me $24.96 and asked if I needed help with anything else. I told him I was good.
Went to find DH again as he just takes off – he seems to go into his own world when he’s in a grocery store….LOL On the way, another older lady asked if I knew where the coffee aisle was, I was able to help her as we had just checked that aisle to see what the beans price was compared to the Wholesale Club in Swift Current…..she was so happy and kept thanking me for taking her right to the coffee area.
When it was time to check out – one of the aisles at the very end had a red light on, so I said let’s go there instead of the maze for the faster ones – the clerk was cleaning off the belt and was able to start checking us out right away. She was in a good mood and smiling the whole time – looked like she liked her job!
So, the whole time we were in Regina from stopping at the Govt. building to leaving Walmart was 1.5 hours…..
Everything was perfect!
I wrote this post just to prove if YOU SMILE, people will notice and SMILE back to you!
