catching up…..

Written by Dale Anne Potter on November 17th, 2009

I swear the days are just flying by…..

First, I’d LOVE to THANK  Kristin LaFlamme for the FABULOUS postcard I received in return for a small donation for a walk she was doing HERE.KuniaVIII-KLaFlamme Both our postmistress & DH also LOVE it!!!

What have I been doing you may be asking?  Lots of reading thru books & magazines that I’ve been collecting for most of the year…..and playing in my sketchbooks.

Below is a clip from an old magazine – think it was Real Simple but could have been a Martha Stewart.  The Real Simple magazines I got from the library before they tossed them (as they were old) and Mom used to get Martha Stewart ones.

SketchbookNov2009When I look thru magazines, I look for inspiration for colour, design, etc.  This one touched me because of the many possibilities those borders on the pottery gave me…..I played with a few sketches on this page which by the way was started in August, then another page has some enlarged and expanding on those designs.  I may never use the designs or I may use them for a new piece as a beading pattern or as quilting designs.  So many possibilities!!!

Also, I have been more & more thinking of doing some NEW WORK on my Metis heritage and since 2010 is going to be Year of the Metis in Saskatchewan, its the kick in the butt I have needed to start working on designs for new pieces.

I’m glad to hear you are feeling better each day and getting back into sinque with your creative muse! I LOVE your sketches and can see some beaded ribbons on some of your pieces using them. Way to go girl!

Good luck on your inspirations for 2010!!!
