New Blog Post:

You just have to open your eyes to see!

” By keeping our intuitive channels and our senses open to discovery, we can capture our unique inspiration….Pam Moore” I LOVE that quote and it is so true.

As an artist, and especially at any exhibitions or shows I am exhibiting at, I am asked where I get my inspiration. I SEE inspiration everywhere.

From the trees (I have many photos of different trees, even have friends who travel that see different trees & send me photos).

I especially LOVE Birch trees that have such awesome trunks…all those age lines to go along with the branches. The colouring… I see so many things in trees – whether they have leaves or not, dead or alive, they are my FAVOURITE inspiration.

My Mom once in awhile will send over cake or other goodies over in her cake keeper. The lid has amazing pattern on it. And, if I wanted to use it for a rubbing, I know where it is. Each diamond is so different. It could be a quilt, a stamp, a stencil…..

Flowers are always GREAT inspiration – no two flowers are ever the same. The colours, the amount of petals or the shape. Look at all the shades of yellow in that Yellow Rose.. GORGEOUS. The drape of those petals – how can I get that on a one dimensional piece or how to shade that in with pencils or paints.

Another AWESOME inspiration for me is buildings. I LOVE old buildings – whether they are falling apart and are weathered to the gorgeous Architecture in Spain I saw last June. As I posted in a previous post, this building has inspired so many stamps, and I have drawn a few stencils and will be working on more sketches using this same photo.

I take my camera with me everywhere anymore, because I never know where the inspiration is going to hit me.

I might be the one at the side of the road, or in the middle of the street trying to get a good shot. I still laugh when I was intent on getting a good shot of a drain cover, that I used my hands to sweep the gravel & dirt off it and then was photographing from all angles, even on my knees and a local woman came by and asked why I was photographing. I said “I might need this as inspiration some day!” She walked away shaking her head. People in our town don’t bother to ask me anymore what I am shooting….LOL!

So,

I challenge YOU to look around your room, your home, your street, your town or city – INSPIRATION is Everywhere!!! You just have to look.

THANK YOU for reading!

New Blog Post:

Today is the first day of the rest of YOUR life, how are YOU going to use it???

Have you ever wondered why GOOD things happen to others? Why you feel like your day always starts out wrong?

Would YOU be willing to take some time each day for 7 weeks

to journal yourself to a BETTER FEELING place

and find out who YOUR really are?

Then, join me, Dale Anne Potter, as I guide you daily on this journey of self-discovery and POSITIVITY.

No ART experience is necessary, you will learn some techniques that are basic Journaling techniques during the daily emails, along with prompts that will help YOU journal the POSITIVE into your life. Using a simple SupplyList, you will create journal backgrounds that will be the inspiration for your journaling.

I ran this program as a year long workshop in 2011/2012 – Positive Thinking Everyday and this is a comment I have received from one of my student, Angelika in Germany:

“Your class is so thoughtful and I enjoyed it so much I will gladly give you a comment and hope you will be able to make good use of it.
This online class has been accompanying (hope that is spelled correctly) me now for nearly a year. I loved the way Dale Anne opened our eyes to the ways we successfully keep ourselves from living our creative life to the fullest. What thrills me most of all is to go back to the beginning and look at all those pages of journaling that I created – most of them really bring a smile to my face. This class is giving you a thoughtful and gentle coaching on how to look at life – joyfully and with respect for your own dreams.”

This program will have 49 lessons with prompts, journaling background techniques and quotes. Once a week, there will be podcasts thrown in and if you have any questions, this is the time I will answer them. I will send out a deadline for questions ahead of the date.

This program is not about being perfect with your background pages, its about the journaling! Each prompt will guide YOU to journal about YOU!
