Diva for the Day!!!…..LONG

January 15, 2009

Ok – had a good’s nite sleep……lots to catch up on and do, but I’m going to be doing it at a slow pace today and tomorrow!!
I left on Sunday, an hour earlier than planned because it started to snow……good thing I did leave when I did as they closed the highway!
Monday morning – I was at CBC by 9 am, they introduced me to everyone with the show “Living Saskatchewan”…..about 9:30 we headed to the wardrobe person, Dean Renwick (he designs wedding dresses, gowns, clothing for people like the Lt. Governor’s wife, etc.) – he was FABULOUS.
I learnt that I should be wearing vneck shirts since I have no neck….and when my neck gets cold (which is why I liked turtle neck or mock turtle neck shirts), he suggested I make scarves for myself to wear with my outfits.  I will do that….
T shirts should only be worn at home where no one else sees you…..I have to start dressing the part – like a Professional Artist.  So, I will be giving Tshirts to Biff (since most of them are Men’s anyway) or tossing them out.  It was funny as we were talking about old Tshirts, I was wearing one “2002 Western Retreat”, so you see OLD!!!  I should be wearing pants that are NOT tapered!
I was asked to take my outfit to show him what I wear to openings, etc.  He was OK with those pants, not the turtle neck and the vest was too long, and the other option I had was a overshirt, it was OK, could use alittle more tapering.
I LOVED what he had picked out for me as my first outfit – I can wear it as casual or add alittle bit to it to make it good for evening, change the pants from jeans to dress pants or a skirt….I LOVED IT and it made me feel good to wear!
He had to change his original idea for the REVEAL OUTFIT, but overall it was a FABULOUS morning.  I even went over across the street to Dots and found a couple shirts that he approved of…..and
one thing he kept repeating is “Why isn’t my art on my wardrobe?”.  So, I will work on that!!!

Monday afternoon, was all about my hair……
Grant from il Biondo was FABULOUS!!!
He was asked to guess my age (by camera man Jordan who knew from me telling him) – he said my hair was deceiving, because my facial skin told him I was around 45…..I LOVE HIM!!!
So, my hair was cut and coloured – I was NOT allowed to see it until it was all done.  He picked a blend of three colours which he got from my eyes….caramels.
I could tell it was a good cut as my head felt so good!  10 pounds lighter…..
They kept teasing me, trying to scare me but I was embracing the whole makeover idea…..I had no expectations and was willing to take anything.
I LOVE my hair!  He showed me how to style it without it taking alot of time.
I had a cry when the emotion of it all hit me – they loved that on camera, I couldn’t explain why I cried but it was so emotional to see myself in the mirror…

Tuesday morning was off to the Eyewear people….
3 ladies at the place, myself and my sister went thru about 20 pairs of frames.
We shortened the list to 4 pairs to take to Dean, Grant, and the rest to help pick.

From the eyewear, we went to a lingerie shoppe – for a bra fitting. YEP, new and good fitting bra.
Amazing what a proper fitting bra feels like!!!

Tuesday afternoon was the makeup, and final reveal.
Krista – the makeup artist, was FANTASTIC.  She knew I hadn’t worn makeup for almost ten years.
She did one half of my face while I did the other half…..main thing she said I needed was EYEBROWS.
I will have to buy foundation, powder, concealer, brushes etc. but she did give me the eye shadows she used and mascara.
For the reveal, she touched it up a notch – even with added fake eyelashes.
The taping of the final reveal was overwhelming – they were perfectionists!!!
The eyewear they picked were the most expensive of the bunch – I am excited about getting MY lens put into them.  Will call for an appt. today (as I was going for new glasses this month anyway).
The show will air over 3 days February 10th to 12th (3 pm on CBC Saskatchewan)- they will be sending me a DVD.  Once its aired on TV, it will be online and I’ll post a link on my blog here.
It was an UNBELIEVABLE experience and I think it a FABULOUS start to my “NEW ME” year!!!
I have made connections with all of them, that I think will become other things…..whatever comes from it all, I will EMBRACE!!!
I do feel like “A NEW ME!!!” and even last nite, was told that I carry myself differently……

I’ve been asked not to publish an “after photo” just yet.

Wow, Dale Anne – what a fabulous experience!! I am jealous.
Looking forward to the big “AFTER” picture – I can’t even imagine how exciting this is!

It sounds like you had a fantastic time and were so open to the whole experience. I like his idea of wearing your art. Sometimes it takes someone outside our sphere to make us think outside our box. What fun!! Can’t wait to see the reveal.

THAT IS SOOOO FABULOUS! I am so happy for you, what a wonderful, wonderful experience. I think the best part is that you realize you deserve to look like a piece of art, eh?! I can’t wait to see the “after”! YAY for you!

Now I see what you’ve been Twittering about! How exciting! I can’t wait to see. A video of the show would be wonderful as well.

Staying tuned . . .

I am so excited for you! I was coming over to see where you have been and let you know that your painting is shipping next week and I got to read this AMAZING and fabulous DIVA post. How did you get this? What LUCK to have this happen. It sounds like too much fun! BTW…my big thing for two years now has been bright scarves I buy on Etsy to wear to cover ummm…well, let’s just say they cover and make people remember me! New PR painting of me will show that. Can’t wait to see pictures of you!

Good on you, girl!! I check your blog almost everyday and I am so glad for you!! We are the makers of our lives and need to open the door when opportunity knocks! You did!! I am so looking forward to seeing the new look. I would recommend Suzanne Sommers books for changing the way you are eating to be more healthy. All the best to you in 2009!!
