Favourite Movies…

On THIS Monday Morning, we woke up to those nice fluffy snowflakes…

Day 9 of Kickin’ It Old Skool prompts us to talk about our Favourite Movies.

I am not much of a movie person….OldMovieImage

First movie ever was Bambi I believe I was 4 or 5 – the Town of Oyen had it as a free Christmas movie for all the kids where Santa gave out treat bags.

Then, I recall seeing The Wizard of Oz on TV, and having to comfort baby brother as he was afraid of the witch.

I liked A Star is Born with Barbra Streisand, Kris Kristofferson – both favourite singers at the time (1976).

I liked any Robert Redford movies.

I have to tell you a little story about a HUGE million dollar movie……

Back in 1977, we went as a family to a drive-in (YES, those wonderful events) and our intent was to watch the first movie (can’t even remember what it was) and then leave….

get this – that Headliner movie playing that one Saturday night was STAR WARS.

We left 5 minutes in….

Our son became a BIG Star Wars fan (he was only 1 at the time of the movie coming out) and still has alot of his Star Wars toys.

As I said before, I am not much into movies.

What are YOUR Favourite Movies?

I can’t say I have an all-time favorite, but I do love to go out with my two teenagers when we can find a movie we all want to watch. I think the next will be The Hobbit.

I remember drive-in’s! We used to go as a family too and I often went as a senior in high school with my friends. Miss those!

Too many favorite movies but the first one that comes to mind right off the bat is They Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan

Not a big movie fan either. I do love a good comedy however. The Pink Panther (the original ones with Peter Sellers) must be in my top 10. Also Ghostbusters (the first one only) and the Bridget Jones Movies. I also enjoy music movies, my very favorite is “It Might Get Loud” featuring Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), the Edge (U2) and Jack White discussing guitars. An amazing movie and one I have watched at least a dozen times and will watch over and over again.

    • I used to say it was because movies were so long & I had to sit thru them, but heck hockey games are long & I can still thru them (I can hand-sew or read on my iPad or play sudoku also while listening, whereas a movie you have to concentrate on just that or you miss stuff)… LOL Jody – only 3 I have heard of on your list – Ghostbusters, Pink Panther & Bridget Jones..
