Fighting the Naysayers!

by Dale Anne Potter

Little do those same Naysayers know that because of them,

we are growing even more!!!

We come across “those” people everywhere! It could be a long time acquaintance who just doesn’t understand your goals, a relative who thinks you have your head in the sand and/or heaven forbid, it might even be your close family.  These are all people who have LOST their dreams!

Really – that’s it! PossibleImpossible

We all started as kids believing we could be anything we wanted – an artist, a fireman, a secretary, a business owner, a doctor, a nurse, etc. but somewhere along the way we were trained to think our dreams were not reality.  That is SAD really Maybe, it was because your family said to invest in training for something else or there was no money for the training.  There are many reasons I’m sure as there are many dreams.

Sometimes it takes a life altering moment for you to realize that what you really dream to do is …………..! So, you make the mistake of telling someone who you thought would be joyful with you, but instead that person thinks you are crazy – you are too old, you can’t do that in this economy, who is going to want to do that……all those questions that make you start to second guess.  STOP, right there!  Use their negativity to push you to DO those things YOU want to do, DREAM bigger, be the person WHO YOU WANT TO BE!

A year from now or 2, you may bump into them again and you are totally in your JOYFUL state and they are still in their sad, grumpy pants state…..who’s life would you rather be in?

For every naysayer, empower yourself!  You are worth it!

Just think, what if the Wright Brothers stopped trying to make a flying machine that actually FLEW!  They had to fight through all the naysayers and kept with their goals and dreams.

No matter what you are working on – it might be a new piece of ART, the only person you should be asking if they like it is YOU! When you do put it out into the Universe for others to see, just know that it brought you JOY first and you can only hope that it will bring JOY to others.

What dreams have you been dreaming of but have let those naysayers get their 2 cents in?  I challenge you to take those dreams, write them down and see what IS the first step towards those dreams becoming reality.

I’m here to help if you need it.

I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the
formula for failure—try to please everybody.

Dale, this was a wonderful post. My son and I launched a novel last week after working on the thing for about five years. The experience has been extremely happy for both of us. But, we kept it quiet all that time for reasons that you talked about here. Putting it out there on Facebook for everyone to see was absolutely terrifying. I felt like we were jumping from an airplane. Then something strange happened — the fear was replaced by exhilaration. We did it.
