Friday Tutorials….

Alisa Burke is a FABULOUS artist & yesterday’s blog post showed just how much.  Those bunting flags don’t look anything like those crazy magazine cards that fall out of every magazine.

It also reminded me of the bunting flags we made at the Summer Arts Camp last July – out of newspaper.  The kids had a FABULOUS time making their name or in the older one’s case a WELCOME.

We took pages of the Regina Leader Post, roughly cut a diamond using the whole page.  Painted the diamonds – one side only.  Then, once that background paint was dry, they painted a letter on one end of the diamond.  Once, that was dry, we took a long piece of jute (long enough for each letter of their name to be spaced nicely on there and enough on the ends to tie ), laid the jute in the middle of the reverse of the diamonds, glued one side and pressed them together with the jute at the top.  If the top & bottom of the diamond don’t match, it can be trimmed once the glue is dry.
