From Madrid, Spain photos taken last June.
This photo is from the Hilton Madrid Airport hotel, the hallway on the main floor ceiling on your way to the second set of elevators. I knew as soon as I saw this being escorted to my room, that I’d have to come back down to photograph before dark…..
I LOVE the striking black & white and all kinds of possibilities started to flood my brain. I had to immediately go write down notes in my sketchbook that I had taken with me.
First thought was that this could be something cultural. I made a handcarved stamp of positive and negative of the design and I have been playing around stamping in my sketchbook different designs. The photo on the left shows one design.
My challenge for YOU, is to open your eyes to what is around you and see the design possibilities – they are everywhere. If you don’t have your camera with you, make a quick sketch – even if its on a napkin or post-it note. You can add it to your sketchbook later.

I think your design will be so versatile. I was in Italy over the summer and took many photos of a church floor that had black and white tiles. I need to get carving. Thanks for the inspiration.
THANKS for stopping by & commenting Nancy! Its AMAZING where designs can be found. Go for it!!!
