Needle Organization…

March 25, 2010

Since I found my needlecase, I thought I’d show it and a needle organizer I made myself.  I bought the needlecase from a lady from Labrador (somewhere in my papers there would be her name but can’t remember right now) while we were both at an Aboriginal Business Conference in St. John’s, Newfoundland back in 1998.  I bought it because it has  the GORGEOUS beadwork and the size.

I need to organize the needles in it better….

These are for perle cotton or yarn.

These are all my quilting needles….I think I should be able to put some back into packages and use one of the sides for another kind.   Actually, there might even be some applique needles in that mess.

I have had this project on my WANT TO DO someday list for years.  Its a sewing machine NEEDLE organizer.

I hate having to put the needles back into the packages instead of having them in one place available at a moment’s notice.  I have even put one or two into the pin cushion but then I didn’t know the size or kind right off the bat….I had to put my glasses back on and try to read what the needle says.

So, here is my version of the project that Web of Thread (no longer online or in business) had posted back in 2003.  YES, that’s how long I’ve had it printed off.

The photo is click-able for a close up.

PDF of the print out is under FREEBIES – HERE!

The inside is a cheap cotton from the remnant bin, I used a piece of felt as the batting inside. I used a small zigzag to make the grid and then I wrote with a Pigma pen.

On the cover, I used a piece of a FQ (fat quarter) that Deborah had sent me with one of her Etsy projects.

The ribbon is a twill.

It’s so simple and that is why it’s so great idea.

I totally LOVE this idea. IT looks reasonably simple to make also. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
