Recycling in ART!

Do you have a friend or relative that has just about everything and you don’t know what to give them? This little book or album is a quick & easy gift that they will LOVE!!! This book is roughly 3 inches square.
Supplies:
Child’s board book (ones with those thick chipboard pages) – any size
Wrapping paper or scrapbook paper or newspaper or fabric or even paint
Sandpaper (Fine to med.)
All – purpose glue
Ribbon and other recycled embellishments
Photos
Take the board book, do a rough sand on the covers and each of the pages. With these books, there is a plastic coating and nothing will stick properly unless you do a rough sand. Wipe off the pages with a damp cloth, to get all the dust off.
At this stage, you will have to decide whether you’d like to paint, or glue paper onto the pages. Leave the cover and back until later. You can use wax paper between the pages so they won’t stick together while drying.
Once, you have covered all the pages & let dry. I sometimes like to do a rough sand on the edges of the pages. This is NOT necessary, if you have trimmed close to the edge of the papers. Now, you can trim your photos and glue onto the pages. Add embellishments. Let dry.
Open the book or album, and lay on the table so that the cover and back are facing you. Take a piece of ribbon that is longer than the whole width of that opened book, glue down onto the cover and back, centering it.
Now, you can cover the cover and back with paper or whatever you have. Let dry. Tie the ribbon on the side.
This book or album doesn’t have to have photos, you can cut out pictures from a magazine as your dream vacation or inspiration photos.
Instead of adding papers to the pages, photos can be glued directly to the pages.
*Also, you can have just plain papers, so you can write your favourite quotes or your want lists or ????
For next week, look around for a old small picture frame.
