Does it get YOU mad enough to egg you on or does it make you hide?

I hope it causes YOU to get angry & prove them wrong!

I’ll tell you my experience….

I used to like drawing!  I recall finding all kinds of paper to draw, when I was young.  I was getting quite good by the time I reached Grade 7 in Junior High School, where the unthinkable happened – I was told I will need to think of something other than ART to do as a hobby or career!

After that, I totally blocked everything related to ART from my mind until my kids were grown.Image

I tried my hand at all kinds of Crafts but still had that voice in my head.

In 2001, I declared myself an ARTIST!

YES, I waited until I was 47 to declare that!!!

In the Inner Work, that I have been doing the past 5 years, I realize now that I should have continued and I do not beat myself up for going to the HIDE mode.  I realize that that is the only way I knew at the time to handle that. Declaring myself an Artist in 2001, but not truly believing it until 3 years was a life long journey.

Finding Art Quilting propelled me into Finding my Voice.

I was led to Altered Art, Art Journaling and Mixed Media.

I call myself a Textile Mixed Media Artist because I love working with fabrics, then adding all kinds of other mediums to them.

When someone tells you you can’t – go inside to what YOUR feelings are telling YOU, not what someone else is telling you! If Art is what is speaking to you, keep doing it no matter what someone says!

And, if you are like me, don’t dwell on the years lost – get busy and ENJOY the rest of your days!!!

Image 1Without Art, I don’t know how I would have gotten through the Cancer, the death of my sister, final years & death of my father, the near death of my husband and my lengthy kidney removal fight.

My mission/purpose in life is to Spread Positive Creativity worldwide.

I hope with my website/blog you realize that ART can heal and help you through any troubles you may be having.

When Someone Tells You You Can’t…..what are YOU going to do?

BELIEVE in YOURSELF and listen to your Inner Voice not someone else’s.

If I can be of service, contact me for your Dreams Discovery Call and we can start the journey to YOUR DREAMS!

These drawings are my stress relievers…..when I am getting stressed or agitated with an art piece I’m working on, I can pull out my Faces Journal and do some quick drawings.

These are 5 – 10 minute drawings – not portraits, just sketching and no erasing!  This is the best one of the lot for today….LOL!  Or the only one I’ll show you all…..

I am confident that as the month goes on, I will be doing better at these.

Woken up this morning with a crack of lightening & instant thunder so loud it shook the house & rattled the windows….I thought there was a train wreck or something as there was nothing before or after…..and the sun was shining.  Came down & hubby had checked the radar – there was one cloud just north of us….So, everyone in town was woken at the same time today. LOL!

This afternoon, we lost power for awhile and tonite, its looking pretty dark in the west.  So, might be another thunderstorm. Summer on the hot prairies – that is what we should be used to!

The week is progressing very well – artwork getting done and some stash sorting is also being done.  Finding all kinds of goodies that I don’t know why I was saving…..like 2 bundles of fake fur (I think I bought them to make some bears years ago, but I can’t believe I didn’t put it in the garage sale last year).  So, if anyone can use some fake fur, I can take a photo for you.

That is hilarious just typing the title….LOL!

My good friend, Violette Clark, has challenged people to do a Portrait-A-Day for the next 30 days.  I thought this would be a GREAT opportunity for me to practise faces everyday & maybe fill my Faces Journal.

Yesterday, I already posted my thread painting on my Week 31 card but today I wanted to show one of the quick faces in my Faces Journal.  I am not allowing myself to erase in this journal, to just start drawing.  Some of the faces will make no sense and some will be totally finished.

I am trying to find a comfortable feeling about where I’m starting the face.  Some people start with nose, some with the eyes.

The mouth on this one is off, but I am pleased with the eyes, nose and eyebrows.

We will see how MY faces progress as the month goes on.

I set an artist’s date with DH today to go draw outside somewhere….we packed the folding chairs, our sketchbooks and various pencils….set out.  The first place we picked had no protection from the wind (SW at 24km) so we drove to another sight, the sides of the road are still quite soft, so we didn’t want to park too deep off the road….winds still a problem – unless we had mitts or gloves on.  We drove to another….good drawing possibilities but no wind protection, even from the car.  We thought about sitting in the car with the windows open to enjoy the fresh air but decided to come home and try tomorrow.  Now, we have our two spots picked out.  Only 6 deg C the wind just made it too much.

We came home, I still wanted to draw, so pulled out a couple old calendars. First I did some warm up sketches….

I LOVE just putting the pencil down and just moving the paper or in this case, didn’t let the pencil leave the paper and moved around.  Its kind of like free motion quilting, just sewing away.  The image on the right side of the page could be echo quilted inside and around the outside.

.

The sunglasses were still laying on the table from coming in from outside.  I wear these over top my regular glasses as my glasses can’t fit magnetic sunners.

.

So, thinking I was warmed up enough – I tackled this old Barn scene…..this barn reminds me of the one on our farm except the photo on the calendar had it painted red, ours was never painted.  I kept trying to get this perfect & finally just left it as I was going to mess it up if I tried to do anymore.  The photo had a snowbank in front .

.

Another old farm site photo – actually I LOVE taking photos myself of old abandoned buildings, so these photos are like from my own album…

The scribble in front is supposed to be old fence posts and barbed wire…

and last one for today, tho I still have the sketchbook out and may doodle some more while the Tim Horton’s Brier (Canadian Men’s Curling) semi-final is on tonight.

. This is supposed to be a caribou….the body is too thick and I have erased 3 times, so am leaving it and will try it again another time.  I have the hardest time drawing animals, give me flowers and old buildings any day, but I wanted to challenge myself.

WOW – just realized its the 13th today not the 12th like I wrote on all these drawings….lost a day!!!

Awhile ago I was challenged to use my non-dominant hand to draw….that being my left.  Since I’ve making an effort to draw everyday, I did non-dominant drawings yesterday – I’ll show you some, but not all….LOL!  Once I got used to thinking in an opposite direction I started doing the swirls without the pencil leaving the paper – totally different from my right hand swirls.  GIVE IT A TRY!!!
