April 15th was the day we could OPEN our Erosion Bundles which have been out in the elements since January 1st.

I was EXCITED because I could see alot of fading on the outside Hemp fabric.

Some fraying of the cording that I used to wrap around the bundle.  The blue twill ribbon was a lighter shade as well.

Here is the bundle opened.

Alittle damp as we had some much needed rain the day before.

I was disappointed there wasn’t deterioration of the paper like I thought there might be.  I guess this just shows how DRY our 4 months of the year has been!

This is the outside of the Hemp Fabric – I’m really EXCITED about this!

The inside of the Hemp fabric is only faded on the edges….I might have to dig thru my scraps to find another piece of the Hemp fabric to see the real change of colour….wonder if I have another piece.

This is the hand-dyed fabric that was the first layer inside the bundle….there is some transfer of the Hemp colour onto the lower left area, but otherwise in still good condition….

This is piece of Marbled paper I had made back in the early 90′s at a workshop near Leduc Alberta.

Its only light faded, still in good condition…..darn!

The foil looks no different.

this is an old ATC I had left over from a swap….this had the most moisture still in it.

No change.

A plain piece of muslin (could have sworn I had put a piece of chiffon in there)….

No Change!

Only change a bug or two…they have since been tossed out.

Over all – I was EXCITED about the fade pattern on the Hemp fabric but the rest I was disappointed with little or no change.  Next time, I think I’ll have to try burying in the ground alittle, but this just proves that we have DRY winters!!!

With one month to go, here is my Erosion bundle from 9 am this morning (15 March 2010)….the outside hemp looks quite faded.

I am so looking forward to seeing how the inside has fared.

Lots of frost on it this morning as we have thick fog.

It looks like the hemp is getting lighter but holding up well, the blue twill ribbon is also holding up well.
