Gillian (alias Jill) Pike artwork….

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

As I said in a previous post, I’ve known Jill for many years, back when she lived in Sherwood Park and we lived near Ardrossan, Alberta.  She now lives in London, Ontario.

amongthegalaxiesjpikeacolourfuljourneyjpikeThis first Mixed Media artwork is called Among The Galaxies (by Jill Pike).  We both LOVE it!!!  We placed it above vintage dresser we use in the dining room.  Its perfect and everytime we go from the kitchen to the living room, we’ll enjoy it. In real life, this is not as blue – its like midnight blue or black.  The flash didn’t help – might have to photograph it outside on a cloudy day.

This second piece is called A Colourful Journey (by Jill Pike).  When we were in Ontario last year, Jill talked about new classes she was going to take….this is one of her first pieces in the new techniques.  We both LOVE this one as well.  We have it in the living room beside this computer area, so while I’m typing this I can look to my right and its right there.  LOVE both of them!!!

and THANK YOU Jill for trading artwork.  Will treasure these just as much as we treasure your folk art work we have in our possession.

Our walls are a caramel colour but doesn’t show up that way in these pictures.

Wasn’t yesterday a day to remember?  We both watched most of the event.

Back to work….

Ok – time to get back into WORK mode…..holiday is over!!!  LOL

I’m thinking NEW ART is in order for the NEW ME!!!

Random thoughts here today…..

I made an eye appt. – January 27th, so won’t have the new glasses until the first week of February.

On Wed. afternoon, we made GREAT progress on the planning of our Studio Express Art Tour!!!  Right now, there are 6 of us, but we have until next meeting – Feb. 11th to add more, then that is it as we have one of the advertising deadlines happening next month.  This is our first one, so we don’t want to be too big. It is FANTASTIC to work with the other ladies and with Karen from the Entrepreneur Centre in Swift Current.

Still smiling to myself everytime I look in the mirror! I am SO GRATEFUL that they picked ME!!!
I sorted thru my Tshirts – some are going to become rags for my brother’s garage stuff (I did save one old one for when I do fabric dyeing, painting or batiking), some will be taken to goodwill, some given to DH (since they are men’s anyway).

Today, I’ll get DH onto putting up Gillian’s artwork that arrived while I was away……they are even more FABULOUS is real life and DH LOVES both of them also!  Once they are up, I’ll take some photos and post here.

Our Sk. Craft Council board meeting was changed from the 24th to the 31st….works better for me as I wanted to go to Moose Jaw on the 22nd for the Best Practise Standards for the Sk. Arts & Craft Sector public meeting.

Have some THANK YOU cards to make today, and I noticed I will also have to make some Sympathy cards for a couple people here in town.

Another Trade of artwork….

My BESTEST friend, Jill and her hubby Derek are now the proud owners (or at least I hope they are proud) of my Coloured Trash piece. Their walls are even darker looking than this in this photo (Gillian has always LOVED colour).  I recall the first time I ever met her in Sherwood Park so many years ago – 1989 or 1990 I think – Jill correct me if I’m wrong.  Her home is always decorated so LOVELY – she could be an interior decorator!!!

I traded Coloured Trash (its made from white grocery bags) for two of her NEW paintings.  She started painting with new techniques and wasn’t really sure of them – I LOVE the photos and when they arrive Monday or Tuesday, I’m sure I’ll LOVE them then.  I’ll post photos of her pieces once they are hung on our walls, as I’m not sure of the orientation on the photos I have.
