working away…..

Sorry, I have been trying to tick alot of things off my TO DO list before the Highway 1 Studio Tour.

RackCardI found a box of pillow forms that I had forgotten about – 10 of them so I have been working on pillow covers……they’ll be available for sale during the Studio Tour.

Fabric Postcards, journal & small photo album covers are next.

Lots on the TO DO list still but one item at a time….

HOPE TO SEE YOU on that weekend!!!

being a bad blogger….

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

I am sorry to be such a bad blogger…….I have been concentrating on working in my studio extra hard to get ready for the Highway 1 Studio Tour.  We have no idea how many people we’ll have come thru our studios, but I am preparing for LOTS!!!

If you are on Facebook, please join my STUDIO Fan Page.  I have just had a Fan T-Shirt drawing and will be having other activities on there soon.

This week, I will sending out another of My Creative Ramblings e-newsletter, if you are not already signed up to receive it, you can go HERE.  The sign up form is half way down the page.

Today, we were treated to Mom’s homemade doughnuts.  She wanted to do some baking yesterday, her first choice resulted in not all the ingredients, so she decided to make doughnuts.  Its been a long time since we’ve had them from her……they are so YUMMMMMY!!!

My first attempt with the Deconstructed Rubbings was not to my liking – I used cheesecloth, so today……finally I can get back to it.  I will use chiffon or organza as the screening (its curtain samples, so not sure the actual fabric as its up stairs in my studio and I’m down here).  Promise to take some photos…….I’ll even show the bad attempt with cheesecloth.

I am also washing alot of my stashed white on white fabrics that have been collecting dust for years……am going to either dye them or paint them so I can use them for backgrounds or backings.

We had to rescue all our apples on Sunday – the darn grackles started eating them.  They got to 9 of them, we picked every other one.  They tried one of the crabapples, but not to their liking.  We picked all of them also….LOVE eating them!

Decided to work on some small samples for the upcoming All the Ins & Outs of Free Motion Quilting Workshop with the Eyebrow Quilt Guild in October. Prepared all the sandwiches to do between art projects.  They will be seeing completed quilts and all these samples.

RackCard

A GOOD long day yesterday….

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Yesterday afternoon, some of the founding members of the Highway 1 Studio Tour met for our monthly meeting.  We put in our mrack_card_color_fronies for the tour, discussed signage and these – our rack cards.

This is just a sample, not the final brochure.  On the back will be our map with the studio information.

There are 6 studios – 8 artists.

We wanted to start small this year so we could get our feet wet, then add artists and maybe do a spring tour along with a fall tour.

Our tour is Sept. 26th and 27th, 2009

Next month will be signage samples and publicity materials.  Why so early – all the tourism materials go to press next month so we have to be this early.

The other meeting I went to last nite was the working group for the soon to be Entreprise Region for our area.  I was part of the Strategic coping committee and its been a long process – lots of meetings since October!  Now, its up to the board members we elected!  I am still part of the Board of Directors for the SW REDA (Rural Economic Development Assn.) and that meeting is next Thurs….we’ll find out then when the winding down will happen (as the Sk govt. is replacing the REDAs with Entreprise Regions).

This weekend, I will back in Regina for the Sk. Craft Council board meeting and Studio Tour and Pot Luck supper.  I will be driving up Friday afternoon as I’ll be meeting for the final muslin jacket fitting with Dean Renwick and I’d like to stop in at the eyewear place that my glasses frame came from.
