A little fabric album with favourite photos & presented in an embellished hand made envelope.

Materials
1 – 8.5 X 11 sheet of Lutradur (100 g,)
Jacquard Lumiere paint & water
bowl or palette
Paint brush, 1 inch wide
TAP (Transfer Artist Paper)
muslin, 1 piece that is roughly cut 4.5 X 6.5 inches and another piece to accommodate all your photos you would like to transfer.
3 – hand dyed fabrics, roughly cut 4.5 X 6.5 inches
organza, 4 X 6 inches
tissue paper – roughly 4.5 X 6.5 inches
quilt batting
sewing machine, capable of making a satin stitch
threads
lace remnants
buttons/charms
ribbon
glue
scissors
Iron and parchment paper
5 X 7 inch envelope to be used as a template, open & make sure it fits an 8.5 X 11 sheet of paper…..adjust if not.

Instructions:
Place some of the paint in the bowl or palette, add some water & stir. Paint the sheet of Lutradur with the brush. Let dry.
Print all the photos to be used for this little album (fill the whole page so its not wasted & use the other photos in another project).
Iron all the fabrics. Be careful ironing the organza – make sure the setting is correct.
Cut out the photos, trim on the photo edge. Place these photos right side down on the larger muslin fabric. Iron according to the instructions on the TAP package. To check if ready, peek at one corner.
Using the 4.5 X 6.5 inch piece of muslin, lay the organza fabric on top and then lay one of the copied photos, right side down. Place the parchment paper over top and iron the photo, moving the iron slowly around. Check to see if the transfer is done by peeking at one corner. It will take a little longer than the others because of the parchment paper. The photo will transfer onto the organza and also leave a lighter image on the muslin.
Place the 4.5 X 6.5 inch fabrics onto the same size of quilt batting (there will be no backings), and quilt these as desired.
With the 4.5 X 6.5 inch muslin fabric that already has the photo transferred , quilt all around the photo or just sew a fancy stitch around the photo.
Trim all around the photos transferred onto the muslin and place onto each quilted fabric page. Use a satin stitch or a fancy stitch to sew down the photo.
On the tissue paper, draw a rectangle 3 3/4 X 5 3/4 inches. Place the tissue paper behind the organza, satin stitch 3 of the sides (top, bottom & one side). Tear off the tissue paper.
Embellish each page as needed, make sure to leave 1/2 inch space all around each page. Trim to 4 X 6 inches.
Lay two pages (not the muslin page) batting sides together, satin stitch all around.
With the extra page and the muslin page, the organza fabric will be added over the photo. Make sure to satin stitch the two pages on the 3 sides before adding the organza fabric. The organza’s unstitched side will be the final side satin stitched all together. The organza will be a separate page that lays on top of the photo but also lifts.
Satin stitch the 2 sets of pages together in the centre.
Using an envelope as a pattern, draw the envelope onto the painted Lutradur. Scallop the flap or leave plain.
Sew one of the transferred photos into the centre front of the envelope. Do a fancy stitch all around the inside of the front or leave plain.
Sew the bottom of the envelope with whip stitches or a cross stitch.
Place the little album inside and tie closed with a ribbon.

New Blog Post:

After using a Copic Sketch Marker on THIS artwork, I wanted to try to colour 100g. Lutradur (available at Joggles) piece.

Here is the coloured Lutradur. On the 100 g. white Lutradur, I used BG45, V17 & RV06 Copic Markers, then in some places I used the Colorless Blender. I then pulled a turquoise, purple and gold metallic thread spools from my tin of “almost done” spools. I free motion stitches around and in the coloured areas and then satin stitched the edges…..made it into a fabric postcard.

I have no idea what this is, as I was just playing with the colours. And, the same with the quilting.

You can click on the photo for a larger image.

Again, THANK YOU Colleen Schaan for the markers!!!
