Week 18 of 52 Questions

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

This is my 18th card for the 52 Questions.  Question for the week is: What’s on your to-do list this week?

The background is a painted paper towel, then I painted beige arylic paint over an old map before writing the question on it.  The sides are leftover from a pile of paper I had cut with the Big Shot my friend Jean has.  I was originally going to stamp the number 18 above or below the question.  Decided to do the corners inside this time.

My TO DO list for this week:

FINISH & Deliver piece to Morse Cafe…….DONE!!!

FINISH & mail pieces to Presencia Threads.

Mail ART for Joyce, Dawn & Leah

Sew facing onto the O Canada piece & call it done!

Work out some design issues with a new series.

Paint samples with DyeNaFlow , Neopaque and Textile Color.

Friday – mail Birthday cards for mid month.

Weekly TO DO list….

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Had a FABULOUS day of rest yesterday – didn’t do a darn thing except watch a couple hockey games, some sudoku  & take Mom out for a Lasagna supper.  FELT GOOD!!!

This morning, I am tackling my weekly TO DO list.

Do this week’s 52 Questions card & post pictures of the last 4 weeks….YES, 4!!!…DONE

Analyze my list of New Moon Intentions from last month, photograph the journal page I did for this month’s.

Finish the small piece for the canvas that has been painted forever, and take to Morse Cafe.

Using that window (in the above photo that our daughter Carrie took while in Cuba) as inspiration for a small piece.  I want to do a small series of windows & doors.  I carved a stamp inspired by this window HERE.

Mail off early May birthday cards…..DONE (DH just took them).

Sketch out a couple ideas for Presencia Threads to show in their booth for Spring Market…..I want them in the mail by Friday.  The ideas have been percolating in my head for awhile…Sketching DONE, pulling fabrics

Add more quilting to “O Canada” – YES, its been speaking to me whenever I’ve gone into my studio & seen it on the design wall.  Then, add the facing & calling it done.

I have some other mailings to do – to Joyce (YES, its just being done now) & to Dawn, and I better search that pile again, I think there is one more.

Finished artwork…

Friday, January 15th, 2010

First, here is a photo of my Erosion Bundle on the 15th day….see some of the silver foil sticking out – a bird might be trying to get at that. The snow that was laying on top was either blown off or melted inside.

Below are photos of my FINISHED sketchbook cover!  The hand stitching & beading was done between other projects, so took longer than I thought. I made some mistakes on this whole thing that if I do another, I will change some things, but overall I am happy with it.

The sketchbook is held close with the variagated ribbon (I’m sure it has an official name for what kind it is but I don’t know) from my stash of bits & pieces.

I used crochet cotton – a turquoise wool to stitch the signatures inside the book, knotted the ends but added a couple of large yellow beads that were in a thrift shop find a couple years ago.

I used variagated Presencia Threads embroidery floss for the hand stitching – tried a bunch of different stitches.

Inside, the fabric is a glue resist piece of fabric I dyed many years ago….I had already quilted it & didn’t like that but decided to use the sandwich as the inside so the whole cover had more weight to it.  I had practised some writing with my sewing machine last week – well, here is the whole quote on the left inside of the cover.  “Dreams are just thoughts you didn’t have time to think about during the day!….unknown”

The paper inside is unknown to me what kind – its a pile I found in a box that I had for years with all kinds of odd kinds of papers.  Because I am going to use this as only a sketchbook, not a journal I don’t have to worry about it holding its weight while watercolouring or something like that. Forgot to mention the pages inside are 8.5 X 11 inches, so the finished size of the sketchbook cover is 6 X 8.5 inches.

Overall – I LOVE MY SKETCHBOOK!

Recovery Tuesday…

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

I think I wasn’t 100% just yet, as working 6 3/4 hours at the bowling alley yesterday got to me…..lots of time napping today.  Missed the local Community Ec. Development meeting.

And, as the day went on – the more than was added to my TO DO LIST……

Work on international submission idea using Metis heritage for inspiration
Work on finishing Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow for Dimensions entry (instead of the Flatland Fibre exhibition – too sickly the past 2 weeks to finish it in time)
Work on finishing more fabric postcards
Work on handouts for the Art Retreat techniques
Work on the Moraine glacier piece for Dimensions entry
Work on the two submissions for World of Threads exhibition
Work on pieces for Presencia Threads spring market booth
Start working on pieces for Bazaart
