Week 1 of 2011 – 52 Questions

by Dale Anne Potter

52 Prompts for 2011 is the pdf to download with the questions (prompts) for 2011 that I am using.  They are from Emily Falconbridge‘s 2007 Weekly Challenge.

The prompt for Week 1 is: List something you are proud of….

That was easy for me…..my kids.  They are adults but still kids to me….LOL!

For 2011, I will be using fabric as my base, so some pieces will be postcards like this one, some will be canvas, some will be ???  The size will be the only common thing – they will be 6 inches X 3 3/4 inches.

The base for this week’s is a fabric photo printed image of a dandelion (macro photo).  I quilted it onto some scraps of timtex that had been stitched together.  I had a piece of pre-treated muslin fabric that is not a close weave from my quilting store days….found it cleaning out. LOL!  I printed these photos of the kids that were also included in my Mom’s Mini Album.  I sewed them down (not fused), then challenged myself to colour the edges so that you couldn’t see the white threads on top…I extended Carrie’s photo so it looks like her whole shirt is there.  For Michael, I used the sign as his base…..didn’t want him floating.  I wrote on a scrap of muslin and sewed it on while I did a simple stitch all around the piece.

I decide to do this when I saw your questions last year.

Oops… that should have been 2010, not 2011. Typo again.

List something you are proud of. I don’t quite understand. Is this to be a person/people or something someone did or something I achieved or something more general?
Here is a general answer. I am proud of my countrymen/women who voted in the 2011 off year election and provided a very interesting election outcome. I am glad to see citizens interested and engaged in our government.

YES Felicia – one piece of art or card that you can do in 5 to 10 minutes once a week.
